Overview

While preparing myself for the review of Colombian pages in Album 2000 [pay00] I stumbeled at one discrepancy namely the admirals flag series is presented there with images not confoming with the construction details given. It is written: ratio 2:3, (8+4+8):(13+4+13), size of ball not specified.
However, the images have the cross considerably thinner then this would give. The ball's diameter seem to be 1/3 of the blue fields height.
Željko Heimer, 13 May 2001

Images in [pay00] are taken from "reglamento de ceremonial maritimo, 1991". Construction details should be discarded, they come from previous Album 1995. I will change it in next corr 1.

Ivan Sache, 12 August 1999

From Album 2000 [pay00] - Admiral (2:3) - (Light) blue flag with white cross and a white ball in each of the quarters. As we already concluded, the consturction details given by the figure are wrong - however, I was not able to get any "normal" numbers looking at the image (it seems that the cross width is about 0.12 of the hoist, white the balls have diameters about 0.16 - are there any guidelines in the source? somehow I doubt). anyway, I tried to follow the figures in Album as close as possible. The dark blue version that was published in earlier issues of Album is, I guess, errorneous, and was based on incomplete information available at the time, and are not some earlier versions now obsolete.

Previous Rank Flag

image by Ivan Sache, 12 August 1999

Same as current, but with inversed colours.
Source: Flaggenbuch (1939-1941), facsimile edition (1992) [neu92].
Ivan Sache , 12 August 1999

Ivan Sache reports from Flaggenbuch flag with iversed colours , but I guess the blue is there dark blue. Is that right? Any idea when the inversion (and lightening of the blue) was made? There is only one other flag (I mention it letter on) of "this series" reported from Flaggenbuch [neu92] - were there no other rank flags at the time?
