I remember seeing this logo (again after the fact -- I was born in 1969), it was a geometric maple leaf formed from a hexagram with the lowest point replaced by a straight line (for the stem of the leaf). I recently saw an image of this (in black & white) on one of those "50 years of Canadian Television" retrospectives that have filled the CBC-TV schedule. I have assumed that the background was red; there seemed to be some text at the bottom, but the 1867 1967 is really just an educated guess.

[Canadian Centennial flags]

The centennial flag appears not only to be red but yellow, green, blue and purple. Also the years 1867 and 1967 on the flag were positioned under the centennial symbol.

More precisely, this was the flag of Expo 67, held in Montreal in 1967, and after which the defunct Montreal Expos of the National League (Baseball) were named (now the Washington Nationals).

The maple leaf design of this flag is (intentionally, I think) reminiscent of the architecture of the American Pavilion in Montreal's Expo 67. The American Pavilion is now known as the Biosphere.

Also, a quick note to say that I just saw the flag flying in West Saint John on Friday morning, May 27 2005. It was the red version.
