The town of Irricana, Alberta (2006 population: 1,243) is located 53 km NE of Calgary. The name of the town is an acronym of "irrigation canals" located in the area.

With the change of status of this municipality being incorporated as a town on June 9, 2005, a new flag design was adopted.

There was a previous version of the municipal flag before the change in municipal status in 2005.
