The Flag of Guarapuava was created by Sister Maria Auxiliadora P. Marcondes and
adopted on 22 November 1965. In 1999 it was
reformulated in accordance with Law nº 860/99. It has three stripes of sky blue, white and green. The
upper hoist stripe, sky blue,
symbolizes the Christian faith. It contains the star of Belém, symbol of the
protection of the Virgin the Guarapuava, scattering rays of the light of
science, culture and civilization. The middle stripe, in white,
represents the peace and the union of the guarapuavanos. It bears a coat of
arms, symbol of the forests of the City. The third band in green represents the "brave wolf"
["lobo bravo"] that it gave name to the land.
