The municipality of Libramont-Chevigny (9,981 inhabitants on 1 January 2007; 17,786 ha, therefore the five biggest municipality in Belgium and the second biggest in Wallonia) is located 15 km north-west of Neufchâteau. The municipality of Libramont-Chevigny is made since 1976 of the former municipalities of Libramont, Sainte-Marie-Chevigny, Bras, Freux, Moircy, Recogne, Remagne, and Saint-Pierre.
Libramont is mostly famous for its agricultural fair (Foire de Libramont), created in 1926 by the Société Royale du Cheval de Trait Ardennais (still manager of the event) to promote the draft horse of the Ardenne. In 1927, 10,000 visitors saw 160 horses exhibited by three breeders; in 2002, 150,000 visitors were welcomed by 550 exhibitors.Source: Foire de Libramont website
