Overview

All Tuzla Canton (Bosnia/Federation) municipalities now have Coat of Arms, and most have flags of their own. The "capital" city - Tuzla, hometown to yours truly, has had a flag for the last four or five years. It consists of the city's Coat of Arms in the canton - an image of which can be seen at the city's (as yet unfinished) webpage at <www.tuzla.ba> in white, representing salt, the city's namesake (tuz - turkish - salt), and it's basically a bicolour with 7:2 proportions of Bosnia-flag blue over Bosnia-flag yellow.
Muhamed Mesic, 13 November 2002

I have received a drawing of the flag of Tuzla from Emir Delalic' from Tuzla. From it and the vectorized drawing of the Coat of Arms from the official gazette on the city web site at <www.tuzla.ba> I prepared images. The flag received from Emir differs in a point from the one we have described by Muhamed Mesic - namely he describes the bicolour as being in width proportions of 7:2, while the Emir's drawing has stripes in ratio about 13:7. I include both versions, for future sorting out.
The coat of arms of Tuzla depicts the gates of the city with open doors in the city walls and roofed gate tower above a dish with fire. In the chief is the city name Tuzla and in the ribbon flanikng the sides the historical names of the city Soli, Salines, Memlehai-Zir and Tuz and the year of founding 950. I believe that this Coat of Arms was adopted in 1980's or so, when it was used in different colour scheme (blue lines and white background?), while the yellow and blue Coat of Arms is probably in use since late 1990's.
The flag is bicolour of blue over yellow 7:2, with the coat of arms outlined white in the canton. The flag must have been in use since late 1990's as well (Mesic reported it in 2002, at least). I very much doubt that there was a previous version of it.
