About the district

The Partido de Alberti is located at the center-west part of the Province of Buenos Aires. It is 1,125 Km˛ and it had a total population of 10,373 inhabitants in the last census (2001). Its main economical activities are agriculture and stockbreeding.

The colonization of the area started in the XIX Century. In 1877 a train station was built, and was named Alberti to honor Manuel Alberti who was a member of the first Argentine self government on May 25, 1810.

The Partido de Alberti was officially founded by law in 1910 The lands of the district were taken from the neighboring districts of Chivilcoy, 25 de Mayo, Bragado and Chacabuco.

Emblem in the 1950s

During General Perón’s second government (1952-1955), some elements of the Peronist emblem were adopted for the regional coat of arms of Alberti Municipality.

After Perón was deposed in 1955, all these emblems were forbidden by the Military Government.
